Doug foxvog received a B.S. in
E.E. & C.S. from
MIT in 1975 and a MS in the
Artificial Intelligence program
of the E.E. Department at
Vanderbilt University in 1986.
Currently he is a Research Fellow at the Digital Enterprise Research
Institute
(DERI)
of the
National University of Ireland, Galway.
Previouly he was an Ontological Architect at
Cycorp
in Austin, TX, and a Research Scientist at
VTT Electronics
in Oulu, Finland,
AT&T Bell Labs, and the
Division of Computer Research and Technology
at the National Institutes of Health.
He spent one year on sabbatical teaching computer graphics at
(
Hefei Polytechnic University)
in Anhui Province of the
People's Republic of China.
His professional interests include artificial intelligence, ontologies, knowledge representation, knowledge engineering, and embedded systems. Outside the lab he is interested in hiking, camping, out-of-the-way travel, bicycling, ultimate (and other) frisbee, stamp and coin collecting, chess, tracing his family 's genealogy, politics, and Grateful Dead music.
